Constance in summer:
The Allensbach Wildlife and Leisure Park is a particularly popular destination for families with small children. On about 75 hectares, over 300 wild animals romp about in large open-air enclosures, which will amaze the little explorers. Cosy rest areas, a falconry, a large adventure playground and the own guesthouse ensure that you can enjoy a wonderful day with the whole family all year round. Outside the park, one can walk wonderfully over the Bodanrück, which is extremely beautiful scenically. However, due to the gradients you should use a child carrier, which you can rent from our local partners via toddgo.
The island of Mainau is not only known for the noble family of Bernadotte and the wonderful flower landscape, families also like to visit the third largest island of Lake Constance. During a leisurely walk with the stroller on the shores of Lake Constance, between the sea of flowers and beautiful trees, you can relax wonderfully. Germany's second largest butterfly house takes the little ones on a journey into an exotic world, while goats, alpacas and donkeys can be discovered on a small farm. Rest areas, playgrounds and child-friendly restaurants are also offered. You can also book a handcart tour of the island and a treasure hunt, where the kids can discover the secrets of the island in a playful way. For the older children there is also a climbing forest.
The Bodensee-Therme in Constance is also worth a visit in winter, of course, but usually it's the parents who appreciate the wellness offer and the sauna landscape here when the weather outside is uncomfortable and cold. For the kids, the open-air swimming pool is certainly the more exciting place in summer, when they can enjoy the beautiful weather on Lake Constance while splashing in the non-swimmer pool, on the slides and with all kinds of water toys. You can also simply rent a buggy, walk along the lake and visit one of the more remote bathing spots on the shores of Lake Constance.
Constance on rainy days:
In case of rainy weather, an excursion to the Sea Life Center in Constance is the best option. More than 3500 different animals in 35 basins, from the native Lake Constance catfish to the exotic Pyranja, there are all kinds of water dwellers to discover and learn a lot here. The new interactive turtle rescue station, which is unique in Germany, also makes children aware of the necessity of animal welfare in a playful way. There is also a special programme for children's birthday parties. The physical well-being is also well provided for.
Constance in winter:
The Constance Christmas Market is the largest Christmas market on Lake Constance. Around 100,000 lights and around 170 stalls - merchants, artisans and restaurateurs - create a Christmassy atmosphere in the city centre of Constance, from the harbour to the market place. A special highlight here is the "Christmas Market Ship" in the harbour thanks to its special atmosphere. In January, the big ice rink in Constance opens in the Bodensee Arena. It offers more than enough space to let off steam on the ice.
